How I Discovered This Problem

Everything started when I began searching for an electric mobility scooter for my grandfather. Initially, I thought this would be straightforward. However, I quickly found myself on a frustrating journey where finding a quality scooter that met his specific needs became surprisingly difficult. Reliable information was scattered across countless websites, reviews often contradicted each other, and I struggled to understand which features actually mattered for his situation.

Moreover, the real challenge extended far beyond simply finding the right product. The entire process of getting a mobility scooter to someone with mobility challenges proved needlessly complicated. Consequently, I found myself navigating confusing specifications, dealing with unclear purchasing processes, and realizing that every step seemed designed without considering the end user’s actual needs.

This experience opened my eyes to a fundamental gap in the market: people with mobility challenges deserve better tools, better information, and better support when seeking solutions that can dramatically improve their quality of life. According to CDC data, 1 in 4 adults in the United States have some type of disability, with mobility being the most common disability type.

Our Mission at Pinge

After experiencing this problem firsthand, my co-founder Jan and I decided to create Pinge. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to make finding and accessing mobility solutions easy, transparent, and reliable for everyone who needs them.

I firmly believe that choosing the right mobility aid shouldn’t feel like solving a frustrating puzzle. Instead, it should empower people and their families with confidence in their decisions. The WHO Global Report on Assistive Technology shows that over 2.5 billion people globally need assistive technology, with this number expected to rise to 3.5 billion by 2050.

Our Vision for the Future

We envision a world where:

  • Finding the perfect mobility solution becomes intuitive and stress-free
  • Information is clear, trustworthy, and tailored to individual needs
  • The purchasing and delivery process respects the unique challenges of those with mobility limitations
  • Every person gains access to the tools they need to maintain their independence and quality of life

Research from AARP indicates that 90% of seniors prefer to age in their own homes, highlighting the critical importance of mobility solutions for maintaining independence.

What We’re Building Next

We’re just getting started, and we’re building Pinge with real users in mind — people like my grandfather, their families, and caregivers who all deserve a better experience when searching for mobility solutions. The global mobility aids market is valued at approximately $10-12 billion and is projected to grow at 6-8% annually, reflecting the increasing demand for these essential products.

Therefore, I invite you to stay tuned as we work to transform the mobility solutions landscape. I’d love to hear your stories, challenges, and ideas as we build this platform together.

Welcome to the Pinge 💛
